Lug Rescue(07/06/11)
Yesterday evening at 9.45pm Mountain Rescue Teams in Wicklow received a call from An Garda Síochána that 4 adults had become lost descending Lugnaquillia and needed assistance.
Using latitude and longitude coordinates from the walkers smart-phones, rescue teams were quickly able to pinpoint and locate the uninjured party.
Despite the longer evening light, not having torches, the party got caught out by the darkness and were understandably nervous descending in close proximity to the Defence Forces’ artillery range in the Glen of Imaal.
