Lug Rescue(20/07/11)

This evening, Wed 20th July 2011, at approx 5pm an experienced hillwalker requested the assistance of Wicklow’s Mountain Rescue service.  Both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross MRT and Dublin/Wicklow MRT attended.

The lady in her 60’s suffered a lower leg injury whilst descending into Glenmalure from Lugnaquillia via Art’s Lough.  Medical assistance was able to reach her quite quickly and once stabilised, she was airlifted by the Coastguard helicopter from the scene.

The operation was very smooth and everyone was back off the mountain by 7pm.
