Glendalough (02/11/11)
Today Wed 2nd November at 4pm, two hill-walkers found themselves disoriented in dense mist and failing light, near the summit of Mullacor mountain (660m). The women started off in Glendalough and decided to stay below the mist but lost their bearings in the forestry plantations in the upper Lugduff valley.
They were able to describe the area by phone and Mountain Rescue personnel were able to reach them and transport them back to the valley. The operation was finished by 5.30pm.
Many thanks to both Rescue teams: Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team, and thank you to the National Park staff involved in bringing the walkers back to safety.
