Black Hill Search 05/12/14
On Friday 05/12/14 at approx 16.40hrs both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Siochana to come to the assistance to two hill walkers who had become disoriented in low visibility conditions while hiking.
The two walkers had planned to travel from Black Hill across Billy Byrne’s Gap and then to continue on toward Ballinagee Bridge. Not sure of their position once they hit a forestry section they made the right decision to call for help.
Mountain Rescue were able to fix they’re position by the use of SARLOC and moved in to the best extraction point which was in an area near to Black Hill. A team was sent in to meet up with the two men who were treated for mild hypothermia before being escorted to safety.
Mountain Rescue would like to thank all agencies involved including: Wicklow Mountains National Park Staff
