Lugnaquilla Search 25/12/14
On Christmas Day at approx 13.45hrs both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Siochana to come to the assistance of a lone hill walker who had become disorientated while descending Lugnaquilla, Leinster’s highest mountain.
The man in question raised the alarm via mobile phone once he was no longer sure of his position. Mountain Rescue personnel were able to narrow down his location from his description of his surrounding’s, to an area near the North Prison of Lugnaquilla. They then sent in a joint search party of MR & Defence Forces personnel to find him. The search party reached his position at approx 16.45hrs and guided him back out to safety. He was then able to make his own way home.
Mountain Rescue would like to thank all agencies involved including: Irish Defence Forces.
