Call Out 59: Lugnaquilla Rescue 25/10/15
At approximately 14.52hrs on Sunday the 25th of October both the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Siochanna to come to the assistance of a hillwalker who had become disoriented while on the summit of Lugnaquilla.
Due to poor visibility the hillwalker became uncertain of the safest route off the summit and made the decision of calling in Mountain Rescue before darkness fell. Mountain Rescue established rescue base on the Aughavannagh side of the mountain and were able to pinpoint his position close to the South Prison through the use of S.A.R.L.O.C. A hill party was then sent in to his location and once they reached him, they checked to see that he was good to walk out. He was escorted down off the mountain to safety.
