Successful but Tragic end to search for missing Blessington man (22/03/08)
Easter Weekend saw a major search operation for a missing Blessington man who had failed to return home from his hill-walk on Thursday evening.
On Good Friday morning, 21/03/08, Gardai alerted the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin/Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team. The teams sought further assistance from other Mountain Rescue Teams nationwide, with volunteers travelling from around the country to lend their search expertise in the hunt for the missing man.
Assistance was also given by the local community, the Air Corps, the Coastguard and the Civil Defence.
The man was successfully located shortly after 2pm on Saturday 22nd March.
The Glen Team wish to extend their sincerest sympathies to family and friends of the gentleman.
