Call Out 13: Djouce Rescue 19/2/17
On Sunday, at 12:20hrs, the teams were tasked to assist a 53-year-old male hillwalker who sustained a lower leg injury near the summit of Djouce. The man was assessed and treated by an MR paramedic and advanced paramedic. He was evacuated approximately 1km by stretcher to a waiting MR vehicle, and then transported to a waiting ambulance for transfer to hospital. The incident was stood down at 15:00hrs.
All of these last six incidents took place over the weekend while both teams were hosting a national training course. We’d like to thank members of Calder Valley Search & Rescue Team, Galway Mountain Rescue Team, Mayo Mountain Rescue Team, and South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association, who were participating in the training course, for helping us out this weekend. We would also like to thank the HSE National Ambulance Service (NAS) and An Garda Síochána for their assistance.
